TEZPUR: Labour Welfare Minister Sanjay Kissan visited Rupajuli Tea Estate on Tuesday. He was accompanied by Rangapara MLA, Krishna Kamal Tanti, Dr Pradip Kumar Lahkar, Medical Inspector of plantation Tezpur, Rupali Pegu, Assistant Labour Commissioner. Minister Sanjay Kissan handed over the compensation cheques of Rs 8,33,740 to next of kin of Late Rohit Tanti and Rs 5,57,337 to next of kin of Late Chobi Tanti who died on March 31, 2023 due to an accident in the factory of Rupajuli Tea Estate In Sonitpur district.
Attending the programme Minister Sanjay Kissan directed all Garden managers to ensure that all workers must follow all safety measures while working in the factory and all factory inspector to visit garden factory regularly. He also advised to organize regularly awareness meeting on safety measures among the workers. MLA Krishna Kamal Tanti advised the management to engage skill workers in the factory instead of general workers and also advised management to keep garden ambulance in good running condition.
During the programme, Dr Pradip Kumar Lahkar, Medical Inspector of plantation advised to do regular health check up of the factory workers and to keep listed medicines in the first-aid box in the factory and garden and maintain record of the health condition of the workers. Labour officer, Labour Inspector, ABITA Secretary, Workers unions and student leaders were also present in the programme. Workers’ union and students’ organisations expressed their gratitude to Minister, MLA and concerned departments for their timely intervention.
