Lachit Divas observed in Jorhat

JORHAT: Lachit Divas was observed with Tai rituals at Lachit Maidam at Hoolungaparaa Gohain Gaon under Teok revenue circle in Jorhat district, as well as at Tai Sah, on the bank of Rajmao Pukhuri and at Dakhin Jorhat Tai Kala Kisti Sanskriti and Gabekhona Kendra.

In the morning Dr. Mohen Baruah hoisted the Lachit Divas flag while the day-long seminar was presided over by Chow Padmadhar Gogoi at the auditorium hall of the Dakhin Jorhat Tai Kala Kisti Kendra. Prominent Tai researcher and social activist Chow Bhobo Chetia spoke about the contribution of Lachit Borphukan who bravely fought against the Mughals at the Battle of Saraighat. In Lachit Maidam (the burial site of Bir Lachit Borphukan), a prayer meet was held which was presided over by Chow Ajit Handique and Mohendra Buragohain. Later, a colourful procession was taken out from the Huloongapara Lachit Maidam to Ladoigarh.
