LAKHIMPUR: Lakhimpur district administration and Samagra Siksha Abhiyan Mission, Lakhimpur, have organized a two-day-long ‘Educational Tour’ for 287 students of Class IX under Secondary Education. The initiative has been taken in collaboration with the Department of Women and Child Development, Lakhimpur, and with the technical support of the District Hub for Empowerment of Women under the Rashtriya Aviskar Abhiyan, Arohan Scheme, and Beti Bachao, Beti Padhai Scheme. Under this tour, the students visited North Lakhimpur College (autonomous), Lakhimpur Medical College, Hospital Lilabari Airport under the Airport Authority of India, and Lakhimpur Science Centre and Planetarium.
The inaugural function of the programme was held at the Lakhimpur District Commissioner’s residence campus. Inspector of Schools Hem Chandra Saikia delivered the inaugural lecture in the programme, which was held under the management of SSA, Lakhimpur Programme Officer Derajul Hussain. In the programme, District Commissioner Sumit Sattawan delivered an inspiring lecture addressing the students. He took part in an interactive programme with the students in a cordial environment. He advised them to strengthen their willpower, to dream, and then to transform their dream into activity. He also advised them to use their mobile phones and the internet judiciously and in the right direction. He further explained the Arohan scheme. The event was attended by ADC (Education) Bhadkar Jyoti Borah, academician Dr. Dhruvata Sarmah, North Lakhimpur College (Autonomous) Vice-Principal (Administrative) Ranjan Borah, DIPRO Mandira Chayengiya, Prangana Borah of the District Hub for Empowerment of Women, teachers of the schools, and guardians of the students. 140 more students from the district will take part in the educational tour programme on Friday.
