LAKHIMPUR: The Lakhimpur district administration has geared up for the effective implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Kaushal Samman (PM VIKAS) Yojana in the Lakhimpur district.

In this connection, a meeting was organized in the conference hall of the District Commissioner’s office in the presence of the manager of the District Industry and Commercial Centre, District Labour Officer, Programme Officers of the NULM and ASRLM, District Information and Public Relation Officer, Managers of Common Services Centres of the district, Executive Officers of the North Lakhimpur, Narayanpur and Bihpuria Municipal Boards. District Development Commissioner Utpal Borah chaired the meeting wherein detailed discussion was held on every aspect of the scheme to take it to the common masses. The meeting took decision to create awareness on the same among them so that the genuine beneficiaries could avail its benefits.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the PM Vishwakarma Kaushal Samman Yojana on the Independence Day. The scheme will be launched on September 17 on the day when Vishwakarma Puja is celebrated. The main objective of the scheme is to provide holistic support to the artisans and crafts persons to improve their status. The scheme will cover the artisans or craftspeople engaged in 18 trades, viz- fishing net maker, tailor, washerman, garland maker (malakaar), barber, traditional doll and toy maker, basket/mat/ broom maker/ coir weaver, mason, cobbler/ shoesmith/ footwear artisan, sculptor (moortikar, stone carver), stone breaker, potter, goldsmith, locksmith, hammer and tool kit maker, blacksmith, armourer, boat maker and carpenter. Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprise is the nodal ministry of the scheme.

The beneficiaries of the scheme will receive loan up to Rs. 1,00,000 on a interest of only 5 per cent for the development of their business. If they successfully pay back the loan amount then they again can take a loan up to Rs. 2,00,000 on the same interest. Apart from capital loan, skill training will also be provided to artisans and craftsmen under the scheme and stipend of Rs. 500 per day will be provided to the trainee selected for the training. A financial assistance of Rs 15,000 will also be provided to all craftspersons and artisan to purchase advance tools for their business. The Government of India will also provide PM Vishwakarma Certificate and Identity Card to beneficiaries for their easy identification. Moreover, other support like incentives for digital transaction, marketing and branding quality certification will also be provided to the beneficiaries. Artisans or craftspeople engaged in any of the 18 designated trades are eligible to get benefits under the scheme. The applicants should be of minimum 18 years of age. Only one member of the family is eligible for the benefit of the scheme. Applicants who have availed loans under similar credit based scheme under Central Government or State Government during the last 5 years are not eligible for the benefit under the scheme. Person in government service or their family members will not be eligible under the scheme.

To avail the benefits of the scheme, eligible applicants can register through Common Service Centers (CSCs) or through the CSCs of Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLES) or Enumerator. Applicants can also apply directly through the PM Vishwakarma portal https://pmvishwakarma.gov.in/Registration. The required documents are Aadhaar Card, Aadhaar link mobile number, bank passbook and Ration Card.
