LAKHIMPUR: The Lakhimpur District Youth Congress Committee (LDYCC) staged massive protest in the district along with the rest of the nation against the controversial agriculture bills.

Opposing the proposed Farmers' Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill, Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Bill and Essential Commodities (Amendment) Bill, the activists of the brother wing of the Congress party initiated torch rally on Thursday evening in North Lakhimpur town. The protesters, led by LDYCC president Ananda Narah and general secretary (administration) Bharat Saikia, rocked the environment by shouting slogans demanding the scrap of the bills. Taking part in the protest programme, Lakhimpur district Congress Committee (LDCC) president Dr. Joy Prakash Das and Assam Pradesh Congress Committee co-ordinator Jintu Hazarika became vocal against the bills. The LDCC president slammed the Union Government for undertaking moves for passing the anti-farmers' bills and supporting the corporates.
