LAKHIMPUR: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Lakhimpur, in collaboration with Agricultural Training Management Agency (ATMA), Lakhimpur organized a farmers' fair under Kisan Bhagidari Prathmikata Hamari Campaign on Tuesday in KVK, Lakhimpur campus.

The main objective of the farmers' fair was to aware the farmers and the extension functionaries about the Bharatiya Prakritik Krishi Paddhati as well as to disseminate the much needed scientific information on millets, oilseeds and bio-fortified crops by organizing a farmer-scientist interaction.

The event was graced by Lakhimpur Zila Parishad Chief Executive Officer-cum-DRDA Project Director Tripurendra Patar, ADC Geetali Duwara, District Agriculture Officer Mohan Deka Baruah, District Veterinary Officer Dr. Bhaben Kakoti, and Dr. Prabal Saikia, the Chief Scientist, Regional Agricultural Research Station, North Lakhimpur.

The welcome address in the event was delivered by Dr. Prasanta Kumar Pathak, Senior Scientist & Head, KVK, Lakhimpur. More than 300 farmers across the district attended the event. On this occasion, the gathering witnessed the speech delivered by Narendra Tomar, Minister of Agriculture, Government of India through webcasting on various government schemes for farmers.

Officials from ASRLM, ATMA, RSETI, Sericulture Department, Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Department were also present in the event wherein scientists from ICAR-IARI, Assam, Lakhimpur College of Veterinary Science, Joyhing, RARS, North Lakhimpur and KVK, Lakhimpur actively participated in interactive session with the farmers.

Agricultural products were displayed in the exhibition stalls by the line departments and various Self Help Groups. Students of Rural Sericulture Work Experience Programme (RSWEP), College of Sericulture, Assam Agricultural University also participated in the event. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Bhaswati Bhattacharya and wrapped up a series of colourful cultural events.
