LAKHIMPUR: Two more persons succumbed to COVID-19 in Lakhimpur district on Friday. One of them has been identified as Purnima Manky (47), resident of Choukham Talom under Chaboti area. The other person has been identified as Bolpu Orang (30), resident of Joyhing. Bolpu Orang died after he had tested positive for COVID-19 at the respiratory clinic of Lakhimpur Medical College and Hospital (LMCH) on Friday.

On the other hand, a total of 122 fresh cases were detected in the district on Friday as per the result of Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RTPCR) Test. Out of them, 115 cases were detected as per RAT while 7 people were found to be positive for COVID-19 as per RTPCR Test reported from Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH), Dibrugarh. On this day, the District Health Department conducted the RAT upon 4,606 persons in eight COVID-19 Test Centres across the district. Out of them, the detected cases were reported from North Lakhimpur Urban Hospital (1), Dhalpur BPHC (9), Bihpuriya BPHC (8), Naoboicha BPHC (24), Boginadi BPHC (44), Ghilamora BPHC (2), Dhakuakhana BPHC (11), Lakhimpur Medical College and Hospital Respiratory Clinic (14) and Private Nursing Homes (2). On this day, the Health Department of the district registered 133 per cent achievement in conducting RAT in order to detect COVID-19 patients out of the targeted figure of 3,430.

With these fresh patients, the cumulative total of COVID-19 cases of the district has surged to 11,136 since April 4 of the last year. Out of them, 9,766 recovered patients have been discharged from hospitals and home quarantine while 1,273 are active cases. On Friday, 12 recovered patients were discharged from institutional isolation while 63 recovered patients were discharged from home isolation.
