BAKSA: Two families clashed over a land boundary dispute in Katahari village under Tamulpur subdivision in Baksa district on Friday night. A man named Karuna Deka was critically injured in the clash that took place.

There was a land boundary dispute between the family of Karuna Deka and Keshab Deka for a long time. This also sparked a bitter row between the two families. The boundary dispute between the two families was not resolved and clashes were going on between the two families.

On Friday night, Karuna Deka went to Kumarikata for his personal work and returned home at 10 pm via Mazdia- Chechapani. At that time, Nrippen Deka and Chanakya Deka, the two sons of Keshab Deka, got into an argument with him. The arguments led to a clash but local people intervened and the clash was stopped. Karuna Deka reached home. Half an hour later, Nrippen and Chanakya allegedly entered the premises of Karuna Deka's house with sharp weapons in their hands. The two allegedly broke open the door of Karuna Deka's house and stabbed Karuna Deka with sharp weapons. As a result, Karuna Deka suffered a severe head injury. Karuna Deka's wife tried to save her husband but failed.

Hearing her screams, Nrippen Deka and Chanakya Deka fled when the neighbours reached Karuna Deka's house. The villagers immediately brought Karuna Deka to Tamulpur Primary Health Centre. He was given first aid at Tamulpur and referred to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital for better treatment.

On the other hand, on Saturday, family members of Karuna Deka alleged that Nrippen Deka and Chanakya Deka looted Rs 67,000 in cash from Karuna Deka's house. An FIR was lodged by Karuna Deka at Tamulpur Police Station regarding the incident. Police are investigating the matter.
