GUWAHATI: The last rite of the murdered elderly couple from Guwahati was performed today on 28 October by their two daughters.
The rites of both the couple were performed in the Nabagraha crematorium in Guwahati.
Friends, families, and all other close relatives of the Baruah couple became part of the last rituals. They arrived at the Nabagraha crematorium for the dead body cremation.
The two daughters of the deceased Baruahs' were present to perform the last rite with all the necessary rituals. They gave fire to the funeral pyre in the last act of farewell.
The murdered couples Noni Gopal Baruah of age 87 and Mina Baruah aged 76 were brutally killed by their own aged-old housekeeper on Monday 25 October at night. Both Husband and wife were found dead at their Beltola residence on Tuesday morning. The accused killers were arrested by the police after a long and deep investigation on the case going through many interrogations.
The caretaker Akash Choudhury and his wife, together with two others namely Satyendra Singh and Paresh Choudhury are now in police custody for their connection with the serious crime of murder. The motive behind the killing is suspected to be related to the properties of the Baruah couple.
Their daughters were married and settled in other places one in London and the other in Mumbai and reached Guwahati on hearing the news of the brutal death of their aged parents.
Meanwhile, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma visited the residence of the Baruah couple on 27 October.
