DIBRUGARH: The Department of Philosophy, Manohari Devi Kanoi Girls' College (MDKGC), organized a lecture session on World Philosophy Day, 2021, on Thursday. The lecture was on 'Radical. Humanism and the concept of freedom of MN Roy'. The session began with a welcome address by the Head of the Department of Philosophy of the college, Dr Rupali Mazumdar.

Principal Dr. Nivedita Phukan inaugurated it by speaking a few words on the relevance of philosophy in every aspect of our life and she presided over the meeting. The Vice-Principal of the college, Dr. Anju Borah emphasized the relation between literature and philosophy. Dr Utpal Sut, coordinator of IQAC of the college, spoke on the need of philosophy in any branch of academic study.

Associate Professor Rupjyoti Das, Department of Political Science, while speaking on the topic, elaborated on the concept of 'New Humanism' advocated by MN Roy and associated it with the concept of freedom. Professor Das focused on the essence of 'New Humanism' and was of the opinion that Roy's concept was based upon natural reason and secular conscience. An interactive session with the students followed.
