TEZPUR: In an enlightening and captivating lecture, Prof. H.C. Verma, Padma Shri retired Professor, Department of Physics, IIT, Kanpur and a distinguished figure in the field of Physics, shared his insights and passion for the subject with an enthusiastic audience. He was delivering a lecture titled “Excitement in Physics Experiments” at the KBR auditorium of the university on Monday. He was visiting Tezpur University as part of silver jubilee celebrations of the Department of Physics.

Prof. Verma, who has developed more than 1000 ‘low cost’ physics experiments which can be used by teachers in their classrooms, held the audience mesmerized as he explained lucidly intricacies of physics. A versatile teacher with his engaging style, he made science fun and physics interesting for the audience.

During the interactive lecture, Prof. Verma emphasized the crucial role of asking questions critically not only for verifying theoretical concepts but also for demystifying the facts. “Not everything written in the textbook should be accepted as final. One needs to probe what’s written in the book,” Prof. Verma said.

Prof. Verma particularly demonstrated basis physics experimentation for the Kendriya Vidyalaya, Central University, Tezpur students who were directly interacting with the noted physicist. Prof. Verma’s ability to simplify complex concepts and bridge the gap between theory and experimentation left a lasting impression on the attendees.

Earlier Prof. Mrinal Kumar Das, Head, Dept. of Physics welcomed all to the joyous celebration of 25 years of Department of Physics establishment. He informed all that this momentous occasion is observed with a series of events and activities.
