TINSUKIA : A lecture on ‘Gender Biased Oppression and Trauma in African- American Women: A Study of Alice Walker’s The Color Purple’ was held at Tinsukia College on Friday. The lecture was organized by the Department of English, Tinsukia College as part of a MoU signed between Tinsukia College and Sonari College. The speaker Dr Deepanjali Gogoi, Associate Professor and Head, Department of English, Sonari College meticulously delivered a lecture on the topic. Dr. Gogoi was accompanied by Dr. Anita Konwar and Ankita Baruah, faculties from the Department of English, Sonari College. The programme was moderated by Dr Mayuri Sharma Baruah. Earlier Rajeev Mohan, Head of Department of English Tinsukia College welcomed the faculties of Sonari College as well as guests. In her brief speech, Dr Anita Konwar highlighted the techniques of reading a text and how to critically analyze it. The programme ended with a vote of thanks by Dr. Mriganka Choudhury.
