A CORRESPONDENT
GOLAGHAT: A legal awareness programme on the theme NALSA (Legal Services to victims of Acid Attack Scheme) was organized recently at Hemo Prova Borbora Girls' College, Golaghat.
The programme was jointly organized by District Legal Service Authority, Golaghat and the Department of English, HPB Girls' College to raise awareness against acid attacks. The event was presided over by Dr. Bipul Chandra Bhuyan, Principal, HPB Girls' College, Golaghat. The resource person of the programme, Kakoli Baruah, panel lawyer and a senior advocate of Golaghat Bar Association, spoke in details about various legal services available for acid attack survivors to redress their grievances. Also, she urged the students to exercise their rights without fear.
It was followed by an interactive session with the students where Baruah answered their queries related to legal services. Runali Duwarah, programme coordinator, Dr. Deepa Phukan Baruah, Head of the Department of English, HPB Girls' College, Golaghat and many other faculty members of the college were present on the occasion. More than 200 students actively participated in the programme.
