BISWANATH CHARIALI: Light vehicles were distributed in Biswanath district on Sunday under the Chief Minister's Rural Transport Scheme held in a programme at Circuit House here under the aegis of Biswanath District Transport Office.
Minister Ranjit Dutta, Utpal Borah, MLA of Gohpur, Pranab Kumar Sharma, Deputy Commissioner of Biswanath, Biswanath District Transport Officer Jiten Borgohain, Inspectors Ajay Deka, Sudipta Saikia, Rajiv Das, Pankaj Borah and many others were present on the occasion. In the first phase, 37 beneficiaries of the district were selected and out of them, five beneficiaries were officially provided with light vehicles. In the second phase, 38 persons have so far submitted their applications, according to the district transport office.
In his speech, minister Ranjit Dutta said that the Government of Assam had provided 25 per cent share of the total cost of the vehicle and a good number of unemployed youths would be benefitted from the scheme.
