Literary awards 2023 conferred in Lakhimpur district

LAKHIMPUR: Natun Sur Prakashan Parishad, a pioneer publication institution of Lakhimpur district, and Mangalbodh Jagaran Kendra conferred their literary awards for the year 2023 to seven writers on Sunday.

In this connection, a ceremonial programme was organized at Uttar Lakhimpur Xahitya Xabha Bhavan in the presence of a galaxy of prominent persons. The programme commenced with writer Ganesh Bhuyan in the chair. It was held under the management of Mangalmoy Patrika editor Sanjib Upadhyay. Director of Mangalbodh Jagaran Kendra, Jiten Baruah explained the objective of the programme and delivered the welcome address.

In the programme, ‘Sahitya Jyoti’ award, instituted by Natun Sur Prakashan Parishad, was conferred upon noted poet Rudra Singha Matak while ‘Kotha Baibhav’ award was conferred upon story-teller, novelist Dhanada Devi. Rudra Singha Motok has been selected for the Sahitya Jyoti award as appreciation for his poetic efficiency of sketching a subject in his poems exceptionally but in simple manner with his own philosophy. On the other hand, Kotha Baibhav award was conferred on story-teller, novelist Dhanada Devi as recognition to her unique talent of telling story and writing fiction. Present day society, feelings of women, their affliction, beauty and their dreams for happiness are evident in the creations of Dhanada Devi. Since 2006, Natun Sur Prakashan Parishad has been conferring the Sahitya Jyoti and Kotha Baibhav awards on the noted literary figures of the State.

In the same programme, “Mangalmoy Shristi-Sadhana Bota-2023” instituted by Mangalbodh Jagaran Kendra, was conferred upon five writers of Lakhimpur, who have continued literary practices relentlessly and dedicatedly. These writers are Ganesh Bhuyan, Bhagyalakhi Deka, Prasanta Kumar Nath, Sweetshree Borah Mohon and Dayananda Goswami.
