NAGAON: Local BJP MLA Rupak Sarma has been nominated uncontested president of Nagaon Sports Association (NSA) for the next four years in a general meeting of the association held on Sunday at its office in Nagaon Nurul Amin Stadium. The meeting was chaired by Tapan Kumar Sarma, vice president of the sports association due to absence of its president and senior BJP leader Rajen Gohain.

The new committee constituted with 33 executive members in which Tapan Das and senior sports journalist Ashim Kumar Bhawal were elected as general secretary and treasurer of the association respectively. Besides, Ujjwal Kumar Boruah and Amitabh Bora were elected as joint secretaries of the association.

Along with Rupak Sarma, BJP MLA Jitu Goswami and two others also submitted nomination for the post of president of the association. But MLA Jitu Goswami and others finally have withdrawn their respective nomination papers for which MLA Rupak Sarma has been declared as uncontested president of Nagaon Sports Association.
