KOKRAJHAR: Considering the petition of the Kokrajhar Zila Karmachari Parishad, the Deputy Commissioner of Kokrajhar, Varnali Deka has declared March 19 (Saturday) as local holiday on account of 'Dol Jatra' throughout the district under the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881 and as empowered her vide Government Notification No.GAG(A).81/2016/749 dated October 28, 2021. The order issued in this regard said that all State Government offices, all revenue and magisterial courts and educational institutions of Kokrajhar district, including all financial institutions and co-operative banks, will remain closed on that day. However, all educational institutions and persons connected with the works related to conduct of various examinations on that day will be out of the purview of this order, the order further said.

District Magistrate, Chirang, Narendra Kumar Shah has also declared local holiday on March 19 on account of Dol Jatra within Chirang district under Section 25 of Negotiable Instrument Act, 1881 of Government of India's Ministry of Home Affairs. In view of that, all State Government offices, educational institutions along with all financial institutions, co-operative banks, etc.in Chirang district will remain closed on that day, excluding any examinations of schools and colleges which have already been scheduled.
