Locals in Charaideo condemn mysterious death of Indian Navy Officer's wife in Sri Lanka

SIVASAGAR: A heated situation erupted at Sonari in Charaideo district on Thursday over the mysterious death of an Indian Navy Officer's wife in Sri Lanka.

According to sources, Harish Thapa, a resident of Aideopukhuri Harijan Basti in Charaideo district, who is serving in the Indian Navy in Sri Lanka, his wife died in a mysterious incident in Sri Lanka on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, to control the situation, the Charaideo Police had to deploy Army and paramilitary forces.

Thapa informed his family that his wife Isha had committed suicide and the body had been brought to the village house for funeral. However, the death of Isha was not easily accepted by the family of Isha. More than five hundred people thronged at Harish Thapa's home village and created a heated atmosphere, claiming that Isha's death was a premeditated murder.

Demanding an investigation into Isha's murder, the locals demanded arrest of Harish Thapa. The situation went worse as the agitated people shouted that Isha's body would be cremated at the house yard of Harish Thapa.

Later, the situation was brought under control by the Charaideo Police. On the other hand, Isha's family filed a complaint against Isha's husband Harish Thapa at Sonari Police Station.
