SIVASAGAR: On the occasion of Lok Kalyan Divas celebrated on the occasion of the death anniversary of Bharatratna Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi, four employees of various departments from Sivasagar district received the Lok Sewa Award, 2022 on Friday.

Addressing a meeting organized by the district administration at Sivasagar Yuva Dal on the occasion of Lok Kalyan Divas, Deputy Commissioner Megha Nidhi Dahal greeted the public service awardees of the district. Speaking on the occasion, Dahal said that the main driving force of an office was the employees. Employees should serve the people by performing their respective tasks with honesty and dedication. The Deputy Commissioner expressed hope that more nominations for employees could be sent from various departments in the Sivasagar district for the award next year. Earlier, at the beginning of the programme, Thowra MLA Sushanta Borgohain, accompanied by the Deputy Commissioner and other distinguished guests, lit the earthen lamp and offered floral tributes before the image of Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi.

Prabin Sarmah, Assistant Professor, History Department of Sibsagar Girls' College spoke about the contribution of Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi to the Quit India Movement and his strong initiative in the formation of Assamese community.

Speaking on the occasion, Thowra MLA Sushanta Borgohain urged the employees to work selflessly with the attitude of service to the public and nation. The employees of Sivasagar district who have been awarded the Lok Sewa Award for the first time by the Government of Assam are Senior Assistant of the office of the Sub-Divisional Officer, Nazira, Ashok Baruah, Senior Assistant of Transformation and Development Branch of Sivasagar Deputy Commissioner's Office, Bhaskarjyoti Das, MPW, Office of the Joint Director of Health, Sivasagar, Mustafiz Rafiq Ahmed and chowkidar of Deputy Commissioner's office, D Kumar Patiri.

The meeting was also attended by Zila Parishad CEO Ashwini Doley, District Development Commissioner Subhan Gowala, Superintendent of Police Shubhrsjyoti Bora and several other dignitaries.
