GUWAHATI: In a recent decision by the Gauhati High Court, candidates who have qualified Assam Madrassa TET (Teachers Eligibility Test) will not be allowed to apply for the post of teacher.

On Friday 7 April, the Guwahati High Court gave its landmark judgment regarding the post of teachers for those qualifying state's Madrassa TET.

Notably. the court upheld the decision of the state government on repealing the guidelines for the general teacher post for Madrassa TET graduate candidates.

Earlier, on 10 September 2020, the state government released an official notification to officially withdraw the general teacher post guidelines made for the Madrassa TET candidates.

Soon after this many Madrassa TET passed candidates raised their voices against the government decision and approached the high court but the court now declared its judgment in accordance with the government.

This means that the Madrassa TET applicants are now barred from filling their applications for a teaching post in the state. The application process is completely closed for thousands of Madrassa TET passed candidates.

The decision by the court has affected many candidates who are hoping to apply for the teaching post as it is a dissatisfactory decision for a large section of students.

Notably, more than twenty thousand candidates are with the expectation to qualify for the Assam Madrassa TET but with the recent decision by the government and the Gauhati High Court, they are restricted to apply for the post of teacher.

The Assam Madrassa TET conducted by RMSA (Rashtriya Madhyamik Siksha Abhijan) is an eligibility test conducted for the Senior Secondary Teacher post in Madrassa schools of the state.

It may be mentioned that in the year 2014, the Assam government conducted the test as a part of recruiting candidates in provincial schools and colleges and at least 20,500 applicants qualified the test.
