Magisterial inquiry ordered into death of Sansula Basumatary in Kokrajhar

Kokrajhar: The Chirang district magistrate, Gautam Talukdar has asked Executive Magistrate Partha Pratim Baruah to conduct a magisterial inquiry into the death of one Sansula Basumatary alias B. Sotbangsha on January 5, 2020.

He was killed at Dwimaluguri village (New Basti) under the Runikhata police station during a joint operation by 5th Garwal Rifles and Chirang police.

Executive Magistrate Partha Pratim Baruah has been asked to conduct the inquiry as per the latest guidelines of NHRC and submit the report within 15 days.

In this regard, the inquiry officer Baruah has appealed to all interested individuals, the general public, social organizations, eyewitnesses and family members of the deceased to cooperate with him in finding out the actual cause of the incident.

He further asked such persons or organizations to appear before him for hearing and submit their reports, papers, and evidence related to the same incident at his office chamber in the Chirang Deputy Commissioner’s office at the earliest date on any working day.
