DEMOW: Maha Shivratri celebration started in Demow Raichai Sri Sri Shiva Mandir from Thursday with three- day long programme.

On Thursday, the programme started with sapling plantation, which was followed by Shiva Gita Path and earthen lamps were lit. On Friday, in the morning the Shiva Puja Aradhana was performed and in the evening earthen lamps were lit. On Saturday, which was last day of Maha Shivratri in Demow Raichai Sri Sri Shiva Mandir, Bhagawat procession was organized and after that naam prasanga was performed. At night bhaona was performed.

On Saturday, devotees went to the Demow Kali Mandir, Demow Radha Krishna Mandir, Thowra Mandir, Demow Aai Than along with temples in the surrounding areas of Demow to pray to Lord Shiva on the occasion of Maha Shivratri. The Chaturdashi Tithi of the Puja started on Friday evening and ended on Saturday evening.

People from various places thronged the Sri Sri Maha Shivratri and International Shiva Festival, 2020 which started in Sivasagar from February 20. On Sunday, which was the last day of the festival, a large number of people from Demow went to Sivasagar.
