Mahakali TE management directed to clear pension of retired employees

TINSUKIA: Following unrest over non-payment of pension to employees by the management of Luxmi Tea Company Pvt Ltd , the manager of Mahakali TE, one of its constituent tea gardens, has been directed by the Assistant Labour Commissioner, Tinsukia vide letter no LMD/45/94/Pt/3384 of 5.10.2020 to clear the pension within 10 days to all the retired staff.

Regarding the industrial dispute between the management of Mahakali TE and ACKS Tingri Circle over non-payment of pension, the directive stated that as the dispute was pending before the conciliation officer and the notice being issued under Section 9A of Industrial Dispute Act 1947, the merits of it would be discussed in the conciliation process.

The Assistant Labour Commissioner's office found no justification to withhold the pension since December, 2019 as the change of condition of service ceasing the operation of retirement scheme was made into effect from September 15, 2020.
