Mahalaya celebrated with immense reverence and joy in Tinsukia

TINSUKIA: Mahalaya, that marks the onset of Durga Puja, was celebrated with immense reverence and joy merging all communities in the morning hours at several places in Tinsukia on Wednesday. While the cultural teams performed street plays portraying creation of Goddess Durga and defeat of demon king Mahishasura, people also paid homage and obeisance by offering tarpan to their forefathers.

The Sanskritik Samonny Unnayan Samiti (SSUS), in association with Aadya Sristi Kala Mandir and Inner Wheel Club of Tinsukia, presented Ashtarupe Donujo Doloni at Thana Chariali Tinsukia that attracted a huge gathering while Vivekananda Youth Welfare Society (I), in association with Nrityanjali Dance Academy, performed Akaal Bodhan.
