NAGAON: The 10th foundation day of Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardev Vishwavidyalaya (MSSV), a university of public sector in middle Assam run by Srimanta Sankardev Sangha, the largest socio religious organization of the Northeastern region was observed at the main varsity campus which is under construction near Raidongiya village on Saturday here.
The programme was initiated with unfurling of the flag of the varsity by Bhabendra Nath Deka, ‘Pradadhikar’ of Srimanta Sankardev Sangha and also the chancellor of Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardev Vishwavidyalaya.
As part of the celebration of the foundation day, the varsity initiated a plantation drive at the site of the varsity in which vice chancellor Mridul Hazarika, vice chancellor, Mrinal Kr Bora, registrar, Babul Bora, Chief Coordinator and Director (Finance and Planning) of MSSV, Kushal Thakuria, principal secretary to Srimanta Sankardev Sangha and Dr Bichitra Vikash, Deputy Registrar of the varsity participated.
The open session of the programme was chaired by Bhabendra Nath Deka, ‘Pradadhikar’ and the chancellor of Sankardev Vishwavidyalaya and anchored by Madhusmita Hazarika. Dr Mridul Hazarika, vice chancellor of the varsity, delivered the welcome address. During the programme, Babul Bora ceremonially released ‘Sarswat’ - the annual mouthpiece of the university.
Over hundreds of students, teachers as well as other staff of the university and members from Srimanta Sankardev Vishwavidyalaya participated in the programme.
