NALBARI: Nalbari Zila Xahitya Xabha and Nalbari Sahitya Samaj jointly organized a function to celebrate the birth anniversary of Mahendra Narayan Choudhury, a pioneer of women’s education, at the office of Nalbari District Xahitya Xabha on Friday.
Dr Leena Deka, the president of Nalbari Zila Xahitya Xabha, presided over the meeting and Dr Pareshnath Sarma delivered the memorial speech on the occasion. The event was inaugurated by former president of Nalbari Zila Xahitya Xabh, Ramanath Barua and conducted by Nalbari district Xahitya Xabha secretary Pankaj Bezbarua and Nalbari Sahitya Samaj secretary Manash Jyoti Sarma.
Mahendra Narayan Choudhury, a prominent social worker, donated land to Nalbari District Xahitya Xabha, Nalbari Sahitya Samaj, Mahendra Narayan Chowdhury Girls’ College and Mahendra Narayan Choudhury Girls’ School. Sewali Choudhury lit a lantern at the statue of Mahendra Narayan Choudhury. The event was attended by prominent social worker Khagendra Narayan Choudhury and welcome speech was delivered by Nalbari Sahitya Samaj president Hirendra Kumar Sarma.
