LAKHIMPUR: A women convention (Mahila Samaroh) was organized under the aegis of Assam State Rural Livelihood Mission (ASRLM) and Panchayat and Rural Development (P&RD) Department in Lakhimpur on Monday.
The event was organized at Gojai-Monai Kshetra located at Boginadi, wherein State Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Naba Kumar Doley participated as chief guest. Bihpuriya MLA Debananda Hazarika attended the event as guest of honour.
In the event, minister Naba Kumar Doley distributed the revolving funds to a total of 4,729 women Self-Help Groups (SHG) of the district. Moreover, Scootys were distributed to 231 Jeevika Sokhis under nine blocks of the district. In the same event, the minister also distributed light motor vehicles to several unemployed youths of the district under Rural Road Transportation Scheme to generate self-employment. Around 5,000 women attended the event.
The P&RD minister highlighted the women empowerment schemes adopted and implemented by the BJP-led State Government and called upon the women community to be a part of the growth of the State's economy.
