Guwahati: It has barely been 24 hours since the record-breaking auction of Manohari Gold Tea at Rs 50,000 per kg and another world record is created at the same venue Guwahati Tea Auction Centre. In the new record on a new day, Gold tips from Maijan Tea Estate of Assam Company India Limited were sold for Rs 70501 per kg on Wednesday morning in sale no 31 at GTAC.
Mundhra tea Company of Guwahati purchased the tea from the Maijan Tea Estate which will be shared between Steven Plaizier from Belgium and an online tea store based in Guwahati- Namah Marketing.
This is to be noted that the Maijan Tea Estate had made only two kilograms of the Gold tips tea this year and sold at such a record-breaking high price.
However, two other buyers were also in the bidding competition to own the Gold Tips Tea made by the Maijan tea garden. with new records being built and broken in the tea auctions held in Guwahati Tea Auction Centre, the huge demand for the Gold tea made in Assam tea gardens are coming into light. Assam, already world-famous, for its tea, is proving it again and again that it still has the potential to grab the best of the attention for its superior quality tea from around the world. although the Darjeeling and Arunachal produced tea are also in the race, but the recent instances of bids seen in the GTAC have highlighted the brighter future of the Assam tea gardens despite the adverse weather affecting the production of the top-quality tea.
The day before, that is on July 30, Manohari Gold tea, a specialty orthodox tea variety from the Manohari Tea Estate in Dibrugarh district sold at a record-breaking Rs 50,000 a kilo under the Pan India Auction System at the Guwahati Tea Auction Centre (GTAC) in Guwahati.
