GUWAHATI: In a series of unfortunate events, Assam witnessed three major fire incidents causing substantial property damage. These incidents occurred in different regions, leading to panic among residents and substantial financial losses. Fortunately, there were no casualties or injuries reported.
The first incident unfolded at a plastic carton godown in the 14th Mile area of Jorabat, Kamrup Metro district. The fire initially ignited on a Tuesday night and escalated dramatically after a cylinder explosion around 3 am. Local authorities promptly responded, dispatching both the police and the fire brigade to the scene. Five fire tenders were deployed, and through their relentless efforts, they managed to extinguish the blazing inferno. Nevertheless, the fire caused the destruction of property worth several lakhs of rupees, leaving the surrounding residents in a state of panic.
The second fire incident took place at Kumari Bazaar in Goalpara district, where more than eight business establishments were reduced to ashes. Quick action was taken with the assistance of local residents and firefighting personnel to bring the fire under control. This incident caused significant economic losses to the affected businesses.
The third fire incident occurred due to an 11,000-volt electric wire tearing apart in Manulyapar, Hatsingimari. Reports suggest that the fire sparked by this electrical mishap was further exacerbated by the absence of prompt response from the electricity department. The situation became tense as authorities struggled to reach the scene. As of now, the exact cause of the fire has not been determined.
These consecutive fire incidents underscore the importance of robust fire safety measures and the need for immediate response mechanisms. While there were no reported injuries or casualties in these incidents, the financial losses suffered by the affected parties are substantial. Investigations into the causes of these fires are ongoing, and it is hoped that lessons can be learned to prevent such incidents in the future.
