TEZPUR: Major General Ananta Bhuyan and recipient of 'Sena Medal' assumed the charge of Additional Director General, NCC Directorate, NE Region (ADG NCC DTE NE Region) on Thursday.
An alumnus of Sainik SchoolGoalpara, Assam and NDA Khadakwasla, he was commissioned in the Kumaon Regement of the Army in December 1983.
He has extensive operational experience in varied appointments in different parts of the country. He was one of the pioneers of Siachen Glacier. As a Brigadier Commander, he made immense contribution in counter-'Insurgency Operations' in Assam. He was conferred the Sena Medal for his exceptional devotion to duty .
The officer has got many academic degrees to his credit which include Master of Management Science and M. Phil. His important courses in Army include Staff College, HDMC and NDC.
He is an avid sportsman; and also been to most of the European and Asian countries. He is married to Barnali Bhuyan; and the couple has a son and a daughter, stated a PIB (Defence wing) release.
