TINSUKIA: The Makum Regional Students' Union (MRSU) has expressed concern over several incidents of snatching and burglary in Makum and nearby areas during the past week. The miscreants, in the name of some organizations, targeted vehicles carrying broiler chicken and forcibly took away cash and poultry, alleged Rantu Saikia, general secretary of MRSU. The union demanded immediate action against the culprits. While criticizing police inaction in curbing the menace of gutka and other banned items, Saikia alleged that a section of businessmen were selling the items in exorbitant prices.
