Makum Regional Students’ Union urges Oil India Limited to fulfil demands

TINSUKIA: Following tripartite discussion held amongst Makum Regional Students’ Union (MRSU), Oil India Limited (OIL) and the district administration of Tinsukia at the DC’s office on July 19, the MRSU made an appeal to the OIL for early fulfilment of various demands and submitted a memorandum to the Chief PRO, OIL on Wednesday.

Though the discussions were held on the issues pertaining to privatization of oil fields, providing financial assistance for social welfare development in Makum region and civil firm registration in OIL, the OIL agreed to consider the demands and grievances put forward by students’ body. The MRSU has placed a 15-point charter of demands which included construction of a state-of-art public auditorium at Makum along with a public library, construction of RCC bridges at Tinsukia-Hilika(Borgaon Namghar) and Makum-Dhelaghat (Bihiyating) roads, construction of boundary wall of Borgaon LP School, construction of gravel roads like Nareswar Chetia Path, Borgaon High School to Makum-Dhelaghat, Denka Gaon Road, Lohari patty 1 no, 2 no. and 3 no. roads. The memo also demanded to construct a standard toilet for GK Girls’ High School, besides an outdoor stadium to benefit players of Barekuri.
