Man posing as Sonitpur Deputy Commissioner arrested

TEZPUR: Sonitpur Police arrested 10 people including a 29-year-old Ankur Saikia, resident of Panch ali village in Golaghat district for allegedly impersonating as Deputy Commissioner of Sonitpur along with nine others at Tezpur town on Monday. The operation was led by Additional SP (Crime) Birinchi Kumar Bora under the supervision of Superintendent of Police Sushanta Biswa Sarma and Additional SP (Headquarters) Madhurima Das. The 10-member team had been traveling in three luxury vehicles with personal bodyguards for the past several days in Sonitpur district, police official said. The arrested were identified as Bishal Hazarika, Vicky Hazarika, Sonti Hazarika resident of Jamugurihat in Sonitpur district, Ashinta Das, resident of Simaluguri in Nagaon, Nitumoni Das from Guwahati, Ajit Das from Nagaon, Kaushik Kalita, Rinku Kalita and Himal Bharali from Haju in Kamrup district.
