MANAS: To attract more tourists and visitors to Manas National Park and to add new item of tourism interest, the park authority has introduced the 'Elephant Show' where the departmental captive elephants 'Bathing and Feedings' are shown to tourists and visitors. This has been inaugurated on December 13 at Mahal Camp under Banbari Range of Manas National Park.

The programme has been inaugurated by MadhurimaBaruaSen, Secretary, Environment& Forest Department. The officials present during the occasion were Amal Ch. Sarmah, IFS, Field Director, Raghu NathBoro, IFS, Deputy Director, Range Officers and staff of Manas National Park, Dr. PrabhatBasumatary, FVO, members of WWF, Aranyak, WTI etc.

Along with elephant show, different material and equipment used for training of elephants, management, controlling, feeding, riding by mahouts, staff on patrolling, tourists for elephant safari are arranged as exhibition & museum under elephant shed at Mahal Camp. In this museum, the visitors can see and learn many things about elephant management, diseases suffered, normal veterinary treatment as well as herbal medicine preparation and treatment by mahouts for treatment of elephants, other precautions taken for maintaining good/sound health of the elephants, stated a press release.
