MANGALDAI: Mangaldai Electrical Division (MED) of Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) has become a unique example for other government agencies with their dedicated and committed hardwork in making an immense contribution to Darrang district in earning the prestigious Prime Minister's Award for Excellence in Public Administration, 2019"
Meanwhile, the news of the selection of Darrang district for this award in the implementation of 'Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana SAUBHAGYA' in the Northeast and Hill States has delighted the officials and staff of MED of APDCL- the performing agency of the "SAUBHAGYA scheme.
According to sources in the MED of APDCL, the scheme was implemented across 564 villages of the Aspirational district Darrang from the month April 2018 till the year 2019 where 72,005 un-electrified households out of the total 1.42,506 households were connected with electricity.
Talking to media persons on Sunday, AGM (Distribution), MED of APDCL, Pranjal Kataki who was also a part of the initiative at that time, stated that it was the concerted hard work of all the stakeholders, including APDCL officials, administration, local contractors under the constant supervision and monitoring of the National Level Monitors (NLM) from Delhi. "I remember during Rongali Bihu, the target was set under Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (GSA) for the transformation of aspirational districts' programmes. NLMs were especially deputed for special monitoring. In charge officers kept on reviewing things at ground level through regular field visits. The works were carried out on a war-footing manner even after dusk with increased manpower. There were interventions of the advanced technology for constant monitoring and resolving the grievances without any delay," said the AGM, MED of APDCL, Pranjal Kataki.
