Manipur Conflict: AAMYA Demands Mizoram Withdraw Support for Separate State

SILCHAR: The All Assam Manipuri Youths’ Association (AAMYA) issued a statement on Wednesday mentioning that the demand for a separate administration for the Kuki-Zo people of Manipur is a misguided approach to Kiki-Zo empowerment.

In the statement, AAMYA appealed to the Mizo National Front which is in power in the state of Mizoram to withdraw its support to the demands of a separate administration within a time limit of three days. They also threatened to launch some serious action which will ‘make the whole of Mizoram study its topography seriously like never before’.

AAMYA also appreciated the supply of essential goods to the Churachadpur district from Mizoram and appealed that the neighbouring state plays the role of an effective peace broker and not instigates bloodshed and chaos. They also mentioned that the Kuki people are ambitious and cruel by nature and their demand for a separate administration is a part of the Kukiland agenda to be separated from India in the long run. And that the advice and support for a separate administration for Kuki-Zo people in Manipur is absurd and alarming for the country. Adding that, the peaceful solution to the ongoing problems in Manipur lies with Mizoram.

The AAMYA also mentioned that if Mizoram turns a deaf ear to this appeal, the conflict will continue to go on and leading to casualties on both sides and that ‘sooner or later KUKIS will succumb as Meiteis are more superior in the battlefield once organized for the war’.

Citing the role of the Mizoram chief minister as very important in this matter, the organisation asked him to exercise his wisdom and work towards de-escalating the citation and ensuring the integrity of Manipur.

The statement was undersigned by Chief Advisor Kundal Singha, Working President Ramen Luwang and Working General Secretary Nongpok Ngangba.
