DIGBOI: Categorically underlining the rapid in-house erosion in the Margherita BJP, the newly-appointed general secretary of Tinsukia district unit of Congress, Basudev Chetry alleged that the local MLA worked under the influence of a few vested leaders who were in the Congress party earlier.
According to Chetry, the workers and leaders of the BJP, who were the ultimate base of the party and were responsible for its success in Margherita, had been denied the status and recognition they rightfully deserve. Basudev Chetry, a senior Congress leader, after taking charge as the secretary of the Tinsukia district Congress a week ago, was addressing the workers during a mass joining programme held at Bijuliban auditorium under Buridihing mouza in Margherita recently.
Addressing the media, Chetry alleged that several BJP-ruled panchayats were indifferent towards the people while distributing the benefits of various schemes of the government. This had subsequently resulted in fractures and fissures in the saffron party and hence many BJP leaders and workers were moving to the Congress.
