GOLAGHAT: On the occasion of Shilpi Divas, Marwari Sammelan of Golaghat district distributed sewing machines among women belonging to economically backward families to make them self-dependent.
A meeting was held on the occasion which was presided over by the president of Golaghat Marwari Sammelan, PradeepNawka. Deputy Commissioner of Golaghat, Bivash Chandra Modi, and vice-president of Purvottar Marwari Sammelan Zone (B), Anil Kejriwal were present as distinguished guests. They were felicitated with a phulamgamosa and a sofura.
United Chamber of Commerce Golaghat president Kishore Dutta, Ekal Mission North East president Moni Bora, senior journalist DwipenDutta and other dignitaries were also present in the meeting. On the occasion of Silpi Divas, lighting of lamp in front of the portrait of RupkonwarJyoti Prasad Agarwalla was done by Deputy Commissioner BivashModi. Vice-president of Marwari SammelanGolaghat, Jagdish Sharma delivered a speech on the life and contributions of Jyoti Prasad Agarwalla.
ChhaganlalChandak of MaheswariBhavan was felicitated for his support and providing the Bhavan to Marwari Sammelan to organise several events. The DC appreciated the initiative taken by the organization and also offered his thanks to the organization for helping the needy people during the pandemic situation. Distribution of sewing machines was formally launched by the DC. Anil Kejriwal also appreciated Golaghat Marwari Sammelan for its social activities. President PradeepNawka distributed copies of the recently launched book on Jyoti Prasad Agarwalla by Om PrakashGattani.
Around 30 women from different parts of Golaghat were given sewing machines by the distinguished guests as well as the donors. Among the sewing machines, four were donated by Marwari SammelanGolaghat while the rest were donated by some prominent persons.
