MANGALDAI: In view of the alarmingly increasing deteriorating situation arising out of the pandemic, office bearers of Mangaldai Mahila Kalyan Samaj- a premier voluntary organization formed in 2012- on Tuesday organized an awareness campaign in Mangaldai town to appeal to all to maintain COVID protocol, wear masks, frequently use hand sanitizers, wash hands and maintain social distancing.

Keeping in mind the condition of the women street vendors and shopkeepers, the organization also distributed masks and hand sanitizers to a good number of women street vendors belonging to the financially weaker section. In the campaign only six office bearers, namely Swarna Rekha Deka, Gitashree Sarma, Bhuchitra Borah, Gayatri Bhuyan and Pooja Das led by president Rashmi Rekha Sarma, maintained COVID protocol and took part in the campaign and distributed the materials.

Last year in response to the appeal made by Deputy Commissioner Dilip Kumar Borah, Mangaldai Mohila Kalyan Samaj- a duly registered organization under NITI Aayog -offered two beds for the use of Covid Care Centres in the district. The women voluntary organization has also been running 'Kasturi Shishu Griha'-a shelter home for the abandoned children at Mangaldai.
