Mass COVID Vaccination Drive Continues in Kokrajhar

KOKRAJHAR: Mass vaccination drive against COVID-19 by Kokrajhar district administration is being carried out across the district to defeat the deadly pandemic.

RAT and RTPCR are being done in various centres in the district. The district has over 300 active cases and 88 fatalities. Covaxin and Covishield vaccines for 45 + and 18+ to 45 years of age are being administered in 18 centres of four medical blocks and urban hospitals in Kokrajhar district.

Meanwhile, most of people in remote villages are reluctant to take the vaccine due to misleading information and RAT drive. Sources said there was misleading information amongst the villagers that all would die after two years of taking the jab and that most of the people have died of COVID despite taking vaccine. A mass vaccination drive against COVID-19 took place recently for contract workers of the power station in NTPC at Salakati and people from nearby villages were also vaccinated. The vaccination camp was organized with the help of district administration, Kokrajhar and the medical team of NTPC-Bongaigaon which worked steadfastly along with employees and associates of COVID Task Force of NTPC to fight against the pandemic. A total of 654 persons were vaccinated at the premises of NTPC- Bongaigaon in Salakati of Kokrajhar district.
