LAKHIMPUR: The Lakhimpur district unit of Manab Adhikar Sangram Samiti (MASS) has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to hold unconditional talk with the farmers who have been protesting against the series of agricultural laws in the nation's capital demanding their repeal. The organization also appealed to Prime Minister to fulfill their demands. In this regard. Lakhimpur MASS submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister through the Deputy Commissioner of the district.

"The farmers of the nation have been protesting against the Agriculture laws, viz— (1) The Farmers' Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020, (2) The Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of Price Assurance and Farm Services Act, 2020 and (3) The Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020, since the bills were tabulated in the Parliament. At present in the nation's capital, the farmers are protesting against these agricultural laws that see the deregulation of crop pricing, including the removal of guaranteed minimum crop price, which farmers say will leave them at the mercy of big corporations. Synchronizing with their apprehensions, we also feel that the laws will affect the rights of the farmers who are the sculptors of the nation's economics," Lakhimpur MASS adviser Raju Singha, chairperson Sumo Dutta and secretary Ibrahim Ali said in the memorandum

Under such circumstances, the organization demanded the Prime Minister to respond to the protest and to fulfill the demands by holding unconditional talk with the protesting farmers.
