KOKRAJHAR/BONGAIGAON: A massive awareness drive on face mask wearing among the citizens of Kajalgaon Municipal Board, Basugaon Town Committee and Bijni Municipal Board got underway in Chirang district.
The awareness drive was started with mobile announcement through a light vehicle displaying various face mask wearing behaviors and distribution of face masks among the people in all the four wards of Kajalgaon Municipal Board on Wednesday as the first day's programme.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Chirang, Nirmali Baruah, under whose supervision the awareness drive is being conducted, said, "The main purpose of carrying out of such activities is to make the public aware on regular use of face masks in proper way, including why and how to use it as per the COVID-19 appropriate behavior." She also informed that similar activities would also be carried out in each of the four wards of Basugaon Town Committee and Bijni Municipal Board on Thursday and Friday.
During the awareness programme within Kajalgaon Municipal Board, ADC Nirmali Baruah and Assistant Commissioner Rakhisri Lekharu were involved with the staff of DDMA, DIPRO, police and volunteers in generating awareness and distributing masks by visiting door-to-door of the individual houses and shops.
