Massive protest against Citizenship Amendment Act at Fallangani

Numaligarh: A mass protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act, 2019 was taken out here at Korotipar Chariali, Fallangani on Wednesday. Hundreds of protesters staged a Gana Satyagraha under the banner of Srimanta Sankaradeva Sangha, Morangi regional unit. Many other local social organizations also joined the protest. Various anti-CAA slogans were given during the protest.

Dipanta Kr Hazarika, one of the Sangha member said, “This Government came into power with propaganda of Jati, Mati and Bheti. Now they have forgotten everything. We believe in non-violence and will continue to protest in a peaceful and a democratic way until and unless the Government scraps the Act. In the next elections this Government will bear the consequences of playing with the sentiments of Assamese people.”

During the last two days, AASU, AJYCP and many other social organizations have staged protests in various places of Numaligarh and Golaghat.
