MANGALDAI: On the last day of the poll campaign for the second phase of poll scheduled on April 1, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday morning showed their strength of supporters in a 2 km-long roadshow throughout the main thoroughfare of the district headquarters town here at Mangaldai.
North-East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) convener and State Finance Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma and Mangaldai Parliamentarian-cum-BJP national committee general secretary Dilip Kumar Saikia accompanied BJP's Mangaldai candidate Guru Jyoti Das in an open jeep followed by more than 15,000 supporters, including a section of senior citizens, housewives and youngsters. The roadshow started from Medhipara public field on the outskirts of the town and covered prominent locations like Chapai, Karimchowk, the ever busy LNB Road, Bhebarghat and also covered the NH 15 in front of the Deputy Commissioner's office and ended at the Parade Ground here. Both Dilip Kumar Saikia and Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma landed here by helicopter.
