Tezpur: The Matru Vandana Saptah was formally launched in Sonitpur district on Monday in a meeting held at the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s office. The Matru Vandana Saptah is being observed from December 2 to December 8 this year with various events under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana.
Deputy Commissioner Manvendra Pratap Singh inaugurated the programme by lighting the ceremonial lamp. Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner directed all officials associated with implementation of the programme to ensure proper execution of the week-long maternity benefit programme and ensure that a maximum number of pregnant women are benefitted from this scheme.
The Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana is a conditional cash transfer scheme and provides for partial wage compensation to women for wage-loss during childbirth and child care. Pregnant and lactating women above 19 years of age can avail this scheme for first live birth only.
Divisional Programme Officer and i/c DSWO Samsera Hazarika spoke in details about the scheme. Chief Executive Officer, Zilla Parishad, Diganta Baishya, Additional Deputy Commissioner Kulen Sarma, heads of various government departments concerned along with CDPOs, Supervisors , AWWs , AWHs , district and block-level POSHAN staff, district-level PMMVY staff, college students and representatives of NGOs were present at the launch ceremony.
Various women who had benefitted from the scheme previously were also present in today’s meeting. The second day district level procession in connection with Matru Vandana Saptah 2019 was held on Tuesday in Sonitpur district from 9am onwards from DC office along with PMMVY awareness booth in different places of Tezpur like bus stand , market area , public place, Civil Hospital, Tezpur Medical College and Hospital. The procession was flagged off by Sonitpur Deputy Commissioner.
MORIGAON: The Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana Saptah (PMMVYS) was formally inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Rituraj Bora on Tuesday at the DC office’s conference hall. The week-long programme kicked off in presence of Superintendent of Police Swapnaneel Deka, CEO Kishor Thakuria, ADC ST Rahman and DSWO Debajit Bora. The DC asked line departments like Joint Director of Health Services, NHM, PHE, DSO and NGOs for proper observance of Matru Vandana Saptah in AWCs and block level. Various activities will be taken up during the week-long drive to help pregnant women and lactating mother of 19 years of age or above for first live birth. On the other hand, a rally was taken out across the town after it was inaugurated by DSWO Debajit Bora. A selfi corner was also inaugurated by the DC.
