Maximum annual fee for private schools, colleges fixed by Assam Govt

Guwahati: The Government of Assam has laid out fixed maximum annual fees for the private educational institutions, which includes schools and colleges. A notification was issued by the Commissioner and Secretary to the Government of Assam Secondary Education Department for the maximum school fee for the non-governmental educational institutions.

The notification gives the fee structure from Pre-Primary to Class XII.

Here is the detailed fee structure table for the Private schools in Assam:

The official notification read, "The total fees means all types of fees, collected by whatever name like admission fees, tuition fee, building or infrastructure development fee, sports/ cultural fee etc. but excluding the transportation fees."

It further added, "The Non-Government Educational Institutions, charging an annual fee equal or below the above mentioned amount, have to apply for an exemption certificate from the Fee Regulatory Committee and the Non-Government Educational Institutions, who intend to charge fee above than the fee prescribed by Government, have to apply for fee fixation before the Fee Regulation Committee with proper justification."

All the concerned educational institutions of the state are requested to submit their applications online before January 15 for fixing their school fee for the next academic year. The institutions can do it by vising the website— www.feeregulatoryassam.com.

The Government of Assam had constituted a Fee Regulatory Committee in pursuance of the Assam Non-Government Educational Institutions (Regulation of Fees) Act, 2018 and the Assam Non-government Educational Institutions (Regulation of Fees) Rules 2020,
