Meet Held With Retailers, Wholesalers of Essential Items At Dibrugarh DC office

Dibrugarh: The Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs Department (FCSCAD) held discussion with the retailers and wholesalers of essential items recently at the DC office. The meeting was presided over by the District Development Commissioner of the district.

The discussions revolved around the available stock of the essential items in the district, their supply and their market price. FCSCAD determined the prices of certain essential items in the meeting and informed all sellers that the department would keep strict vigilance to prevent cases of abnormal price rise and shortage of supply. It was also informed that the department would take necessary action against a seller who tried to create artificial scarcity to notch prices up. It was decided to form an enforcement squad to regularly monitor the prices of certain other items like vegetables, fish and meat, besides that of the essential items.
