TAMULPUR: Independence Day will be celebrated in Baksa this year by the district administration at Bathoupuri near Mushalpur. This was announced by Deputy Commissioner of Baksa, Ranjan Sharma in a meeting at the DC's office conference hall on Monday evening.
By following government instruction and maintaining the COVID-19 protocol, the administration will celebrate the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner said. In the wake of COVID-19 pandemic this year, the programme will start with playing of patriotic song through fixed loud speaker at 5 am, which will be followed by the hoisting of national flag at government offices and educational institutions, garlanding at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi and finally unfurling of national flag at Bathoupuri stadium at 9.30 am.
As part of creating of environmental awareness amongst people, the Deputy Commissioner asked officials, particularly Inspector of Schools, to initiate plantation of saplings at their respective premises. The Deputy Commissioner also said that all participants along with officials involved in the preparation of the programme would have to undergo thermal scanning, besides maintaining social distancing and wearing of face mask. Public gathering will be 1/3 of the capacity of the venue, he said. The Deputy Commissioner ordered PWD officials to prepare the field and police for security arrangement. He also asked officials to illuminate their respective office premises for three days prior to the programme.
