DIBRUGARH: A meeting was held at the Deputy Commissioner's conference room on Thursday under the president ship of Deputy Commissioner Pallav Gopal Jha to select the beneficiaries of Dibrugarh District for Deendayal Dibangan Pension Achoni (DDPA) and Deendayal Punor Sangstahpon Achoni (DPSA).

The meeting, which graced by the Dibrugarh MLA Prasanta Phukan and representatives of other MLAs of the district, selected 692 beneficiaries from seven legislative constituencies in the district for DDPA. The selected eligible differently-abled beneficiaries will get Rs 1,000 per month as a pension. The meeting also unanimously selected 54 eligible differently-abled beneficiaries for government's ex-gratia payment of Rs. 20,000 for their rehabilitation under DPSA.

Dibrugarh MLA Prasanta Phukan in his address said, "The district administration has taken up all possible steps towards strict implementation of all government schemes meant for the welfare of differently-abled persons." He further laid emphasis on covering each differently-able person in the district under these schemes.

The DC also directed both the Social Welfare Department and Health Department to make a coordinated effort to cover all the eligible differently-abled persons under government sponsored schemes. ADC Nandita Barua, Social Welfare Officer Jyoti Rekha Borgohain and officers from other government departments also attended the meeting.
