DOOMDOOMA: In order to stop forceful donations/subscriptions and to have a discussion on various existing legal provisions, an emergent meeting with various political parties and organizations was convened at DC office, Tinsukia on Sunday with District Magistrate, Tinsukia Narasing Power in the chair.
As per a circular of the Assam Government Political (A) to put an end to the culture of collection of forceful donations, an observation committee was formed at Tinsukia with District Magistrate as president and SP, Tinsukia, SP, Sadiya and Assistant Register of Co-operative Societies, Tinsukia as members. DC Narasing Power said that if this culture of collection of forceful donations could be stopped, then only development would take place in the region. He appealed to all to give greater importance to creating a congenial atmosphere of law and order in the district. He further said that the domestic and foreign investors would be willing to invest in the State provided a congenial atmosphere prevailed here.
In that event, the unemployment problem would be mitigated and that would usher in all-round development of the district. Superintendent of Police (SP) of Sadiya, Mohanlal Mina exhorted all to submit written complaint against the individuals/organizations involved in such forceful collection of subscription/donations so that legal action could be taken against the offenders.
The meeting was attended by ADC Manjit Barkataki, SDO (Civil), Sadiya subdivision, Anupam Deka, and others.
